Gather virtually with other members of the Wisconsin Book Club for an engaging discussion on “Letters from Clara” by Janet Newman.

The book explores the real-life, epic journey of intrepid Wisconsin voyageur, Clara Pagel, who ventured into the world just prior to the start of World War II, chronicling her travels and the state of the world—from bombings and earthquakes to Mussolini and Gandhi—in more than 100 letters to YWCA members back home.

Liz Arbuckle, the Northern Wisconsin Education Outreach Specialist for the Wisconsin Historical Society, hosts this discussion. Prior to our meeting, Liz will send the virtual meeting link and some reflection questions to encourage a lively conversation. Participants will need access to a copy of the book, an internet connection and a computer or smartphone to fully participate in our discussion.
